Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do Ink and/or paper/printed fingerprints?

No. We only do digital live scan fingerprints that are submitted electronically. Printed fingerprint cards, such as those that are also sometimes referred to as the FD-258, are not available at Lakeland Fingerprinting due to the need for specialized printing equipment which we do not have.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, an appointment is needed. You can pre-register right here on our site and and choose a time to come in. One of our trained Livescan operators will take your fingerprints (and photo, if required.)

If you have your ORI # you can click here to enter it and see pricing and real-time availability.

Do you do fingerprinting for concealed weapons permits?

No. While we fully support our constitution and encourage everyone to exercise their rights, CWP scanning also requires an additional permit, which we don’t have.

If I have been fingerprinted before, can you transfer my previous prints?

No. Every time you are required to be fingerprinted, your results are processed as a new transaction by the FDLE and sent to the agency that requested them.

Every agency that requires fingerprinting maintains their own database and in most all cases, state law reqires a new set of fingerprints every time a criminal background check is requested.

How much do Fingerprints Cost?

Fingerprinting pricing is completely dependent on the ORI number that is provided to you by the agency who is requesting the background check. If you have your ORI#, you can click here to enter it and see pricing and appointment availability.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards.

How long does it take to receive the results?

Lakeland Fingerprinting submits your live scan fingerprints to the FDLE immediately after collecting them and before the next appointment. With that said, the FDLE generally processes them (on average) within 24-72 hours.

The agency that is requesting the background check will receive a response directly from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

If you have a criminal or arrest history, things can be delayed somewhat, but in most cases responses are sent from FDLE to the agency within 72 hours.

Do I receive a copy of the results as well?

Generally, no. The FDLE sends results directly to the agency that requests the background check.

The results are not sent to the individual being fingerprinted. Lakeland Fingerprinting does not receive responses from the livescan background checks once they are sent to the FDLE.

Can I run a background check on myself?

The short answer is yes, but not through us. The way our livescan system is set up, the fingerprints we do get sent directly to the FDLE, who in turn sends the results of the background check to the organization identified by the ORI # you used when booking your appointment.

If you would like to do a self background check, please visit this page on the FBI’s website for more information.
